It works great to build a quick win. Once you have the behavior corrected, it's easy to put the math to work. Our problem wasn't lack of smarts (we understood that paying higher interest debts first makes sense) but lack of motivation. Dave Ramsey got us fired up and motivated and we gained momentum via the debt snowball. We have been debt free for several years and are agreed that we will never borrow money again.
